No, there absolutely is a standard, it’s just not something that the Everybody vs racism shirt has to individually approve of for anybody to claim their product meets those requirements. So anybody who uses the same type of aluminum alloy in their sports water bottle as is on the military’s approved list, will be able to claim they’re using “military grade aluminum”. And that’s totally true, but doesn’t mean that the military is using the product, which is the trick. The term is used as a marketing gimmick, but there’s still a legitimate reason behind it. I can confirm that they exist on some military uniforms. In the Navy, Everybody vs racism shirt is on our wool v-neck sweaters (similar to the pic in OP) and our Navy Working Uniforms (what most civilians would call “camouflage uniforms”) are reinforced in the same areas with extra material except maybe the shoulders, I’d have to look again to be sure.
